This NEWS is Bittersweet. I started this set of dies when our daughter Lindsay announced she was getting married. We wanted to make her invites together and the need for perfect layered dies ….. ideas …… to create them with ….. began to swirl . I started designing before summer CHA last year and the day after CHA our beautiful daughter was killed. I worked on them here and there and 8 weeks ago I saw an attorney to start the process of trademarking Card Creator™. Originally, it was Card Creations but I liked Card Creator better so Card Creator it is.

I have designed 6" x 6", 5" x 7", 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", ATC and MANY beautiful layers. This is PERFECT for Cardmakers as it takes the guesswork out of having to cut your layers. Our first release includes 4 new dies and we are shooting for 4 new sets a month. I have 20 different sets already designed including a Wedding Grand set .... Graduation Cap Tutorial

The Graduation Cap Card is posted on the SSCC Blog as a New Beginnings creation. The card looks like this:

You will need to begin with a piece of black cardstock that is 5 1/4 x 10 inches. Score this cardstock at 2.5 and 5 inches.

Mark the sides of the unscored square at 2.5 and then the center top. Cut off the corners as shown below.

Score the cardstock with an X from the corners to the 1st score line (at 2.5). See below:

Make so that the triangles fold in and the square top of the cap is showing.

In order to make the pop up, you will need to put binding tape on the bottom triangle area as shown below. This will cause the "cap" to stay popped up.

Cut a piece of DSP the size of 3.25 x 3.25 inches. Adhere this to the top of the graduation cap.

I generally use a decorative punch on the corners of the paper. I then put a flower in the center along with the tassel.

On the back side, you will place a piece of white paper, 3 x 1.5 inches, stamped with the Congratulations stamp from the Stamping Scrapping Celebration Stamp Set.

This will complete the Graduation Cap card. I hope that you will try making one for yourself!

Sizzix Spotlighted! Happy Black Friday!

I'm on a roll...don't stop me now!

Today I am "spotlighting" the Sizzix die* called "Card, A2 Gate Fold w/Flower Silhoutte". The die makes the whole card, even the crease marks for the folds! Very easy and very pretty results!

The flowers are 3 layers: the first layer is a matching Sizzix "Scalloped Flower"; 2nd layer is a silk polkadot flower I had; top layer is a punch out from the "Flowers & Leaves" EK Success punch, plus a rhinestone. The little flowers and ribbon are from my stash.

The 2-sided cardstock is called "Out of Print" by Basic Grey*. (The 2 starred items are from http://www.stampingscrapping.com/ and I know the Sizzix die is on the Black Friday Sale there!) I used my Cuttlebug and the long 14" plates to make the die cut.

Hello! And, yes, Happiest of Thanksgivings to you all! This is Sandie...aka ScrappySandie...and this is the very first time I have posted on the SSDT blog! I was asked to "spotlight" some of the GEO Dies to show how absolutely lovely they are. I have used GEO Dies die cuts on several cards now and love how easy it is to make a card that looks "complicated"... but isn't! The amazing detail and lacy patterns create endless possibilities. Here's the one I made for all of you!

This die cut was made using the GEO Die #10...my favorite! I like it because it is so "geometric"...would make beautiful snowflakes, don't you think? The cardstock is from Best Creation, a 6x6 pad called "Hello Fall" and the stamped sentiments are from Cindy's set (SSD) "Happy Fall". Now as long as I'm "spotlighting" these great dies I'll show you another card I made a couple weeks ago as an anniversary card. This one features the GEO Die #8 and uses cardstock from the same Best Creation 6x6 pad.

Tutorial–Christmas Card Box

Today I would like to show you a card box that I made. Our sister blog, Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central is having a Christmas/Holiday challenge and this was my project. Along with making it I decided to do a tutorial.
Here is the box.

The card box will hold A4 (4 x 5 1/2) size cards. Here is a list of ingredients:

To make the box and lid two pieces of cardstock are needed:

Box – 12” x 12”
Lid – 10 1/16” x 8 1/4”

First, taking the 12 x 12 piece of cardstock score at 3” and 9”. Turn and score at 4” and 8”. Next, cut the score lines on the 4” and 8” score lines on both sides. I tend to cut out the whole score line. I think it assembles better when this is done.
Using the scoring tool, fold the paper and crease the score lines. Apply 1/8" scor-tape to the two outer cut squares. The scor-tape will be along the outer edge and inner cut.

Next, start assembling the box. The inner fold piece (the one with no scor-tape) will be shorter than the edges as shown below. Assemble the other side.

The box is now complete.

Next, taking he 10 1/16” x 8 1/4” piece of cardstock place the 10 1/16” edge up against the fence of the Scor-pal. Make the first score at 2”. Now, move the cardstock to the right to the first 1/16” mark and score at 8 1/4”. Turn the cardstock and score at 2”. Again, move the cardstock to the right to the first 1/16” mark and score at 6 1/4”.
Next step is to cut the score lines on the 8 1/16” sides.

Using the scoring tool, fold and crease on the score lines. Add 1/8” score tape to the outer edges as shown.

Next, assembly the lid.

And here is the finished box. Embellish as desired.

Matchbook Card Tutorial

This tutorial only uses a half sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock as well as a matching scrap of paper. Usually matchbook cards need a 12" x 4 1/4" strip, but by adding the scrap for additional length, you can use smaller paper.

Supplies:

Scor-Pal

Stapler

11" x 4 1/4" piece of cardstock

4 1/4" x 3 7/8" piece of scrap cardstock to match

La La Land Chef Marci

Score the 11" x 4 1/4" strip at the 1" mark and fold. With the folded end on the 0" mark, score at 5 1/2".

Fold card at the 5 1/2" score line.

Measure 1/2" up from the folded edge and 2 1/8" from the left edge, mark and center staple over mark.

Place your 4 1/4" x 3 7/8" scrap under the fold to the staple. Adhere. This will extend the length of your base card, allowing you to tuck it in like a matchbook.

Hat Decorative Pin Tutorial

Hey Ladies,

It is my turn to bring you a tutorial over to Stamping Scrapping Design Tem Blog and for that I thought it would be cool to show you how I`m decorating my making memories pins... this is something I learnt a couple of months ago and now I find so addicted and the pins make the cards even prettier.

Excuse me if I forgot to mention something, this is my first time making a tutorial, so if you have any doubt, don`t hesitate to drop a question!

First I got my Making Memories Deco Pins from Stamping Scrapping

So first thing to do is to choose your pin and your beads... I decide to get pearls for the first one:

Then I have put the beads in the needle in the sequence I want... I left the biggest pearl for the last one.

but I put glue on both sides of the bea so they call be glued.. I used jewellery glue.

Then picked others beads and another pin to make another one:

but when I put all of them in the needle I saw it was too much, so

I took the little blue off and them the size became perfect. Again put the glue in each end of the beads.

I want to make a red one, so got more beads:

put all of them in the neddle in a sequence I want them to be and put glue in both ends again.

One thing I like to do it is add a little bit of stickles in the end of the bead, so when it dries it will help them beads do no fell off...

For letting it dry, I put them on the side of my pin cushion (pin cushion was a gift from my friend Froggy) so the beads wont move and will be in the right place till them dry.

I love making decorative pins and it does not take more than 1 minute to have it done... so easy and so pretty!

For my card I used Tilda wants a Hug from Magnolia Stamps.

I colored my image using copic markers BG15, BG13, BG10, E37, E33, E53, R29, R27, R24, E11, E00, R20.

The oval cardstock was cut with oval beaded and classic oval nesties on my Grand Calibur

This is also my first time using sew easy with red floss.

Paper Corsages

Today I would like to show you what we will be making in one of the classes hosted by Stamping Scrapping at CHA in Chicago this coming week. If you will be there stop by booth 1400 and say hello, we would love to meet you!
Grab a cup of coffee, sit back and enjoy the tutorial.
We taking these supplies …..

and turning them into this ……

For this project the following supplies are needed:

Spellbinders Grand Calibur
SSD Anglaise Circle Spellbinders compatible Dies
Scor-pal
Buttons
Scor-pal scor-tape
Zip dry
Color Me White flower
Ribbon
Safety pin or pin back
Pom-pom or pop dots
2-3” circle of paper for back

First step is to cut out two of the large Anglaise dies, one of the next largest size and a circle.

After cutting out all of the dies the two large Anglaise dies need to be scored. I scored at the small circles and at the bottom of each curve all the way around. It is difficult to see the score lines with this paper and the camera angle.
So, between the two ‘curls’ there is a small circle that is cut from the die. Start scoring here lining up the top and bottom on the same line. Next, line up the scor-pal in the crevice to the right or left of the curl. Next, score in the valley between the two ovals. Do this all the way around for both large die cuts.

After both are scored cut on one of the score lines all the way to the inner circle.

Next step is to accordion fold the two large die cuts.

Once this is complete take a dab of Zip dry or scor-tape and add it to each cut on one of the large die cuts.

Now, take the two pieces and glue them together to form one large circle.

At this point the shape looks a little odd. Just bring the folds together and it will begin to take shape.
Next, add Zip Dry or Scor-tape to the 2-3'” circle. I prefer Scor-tape because I can adjust the die cuts for a longer period of time. It is also a little difficult for me to squeeze the bottle of Zip Dry.

After this sets up for a few seconds take the now one large accordion folded die cut and set it on the circle. Do your best to center on the back side although it isn’t necessary. Continue to adjust the accordion folded cut out so that the folds look uniform throughout. After holding your breath a couple of minutes you should be able to let go and the cut out will remain attached to the circle.

Next step is to take the next size Anglaise die cut and put a dab of Zip Dry on it, the pom-pom and a dab of Zip Dry on top of the pom-pom.

After it sets a few seconds place the pom-pom in the center of the Paper Corsage base. This is the white space in the picture above this one. Your corsage should look like the one shown below.

Take a Color Me White flower and adhere to the top of the corsage.

Add a button to the middle of the flower. Adhere using Zip Dry.

Take the piece of ribbon and fold it in half as shown.

Using Scor-tape (Zip Dry didn’t work too well with this ribbon) cross the ribbon over itself as shown above.

Add the safety pin at the fold of the ribbon.

That’s it ….. all done!

Conserving Paper Tutorial

If you have ever thought that you didn't want to use up a sheet of DSP to make a card because it is the last one you have of that design, or you spent a lot of money on it and you hate to use the whole thing in one layer on a card, I am going to show you a trick/tip to make that beautiful piece of DSP, or any piece of cardstock, go a bit further.

I have some gorgeous Magnolia DSP that I have been saving and have finally decided to use it. First I am starting with some of the Cryogen White paper as the base of my card. I love this paper because it has a shimmer to it.

For my first layer on this card, I am going to use the Core'dinations Gemstones paper. I am all about the shimmer, so had to add some more.

Since I am going to add another layer on this paper, I am going to use my Big Shot to cut out the center with the Spellbinders Scalloped Circle Nestabilities.. You won't be able to see that I have cut out the center when I add the next layer, I will use this piece on another part of the card.

I take the DSP that I will be using as the next layer, and cut it out with the Spellbinders Beaded Circle Nestabilities.

This piece will go over the scalloped circle cut out and you won't even be able to tell that I did not use a full sheet of paper underneath it. However, since I will be placing an image on top of this cut out DSP, I will cut the center out of this piece of paper as well. You will never be able to see that I did not use a full beaded circle cut out when I am done.

Here I have placed the image on top of the beaded circle die cut. So, can you see that I have not used a full sheet of paper?

The piece of DSP that I cut the center out of the beaded circle is used as a part of the inside of the card, along with the scalloped circle cut out that I cut previously out of the gemstone paper. With this part of the card, I didn't mind it you could tell that I cut out the center of the DSP since I am using it as a layered frame.

This is how I conserve paper and piece together a card with all of the items that I have cut out. So, you might now be asking yourself why I have not shown the complete card so that you can see all of the items that I used on it? Well, this card is my post for the buttons challenge at Magnolia Stamp Lovers, so you will have to hop over there to see the card in its entirety. I am such a tease!!

Making your own Embossing Plate

Do it yourself embossing folder

and….for those of you who prefer a written tutorial….here you go!

Cut a 5 x 6 1/2 piece of chipboard. I used the back of a 12 x 12 paper stack .

Using a paper punch, cut out about 24 butterflies.

With your favorite adhesive, glue the butterflies to your 6” x 5 1/2” piece of chipboard, 2 layers thick

in a random pattern…

Run through your die cutter with an embossing mat.

It looks so much better IRL…honest!

Now…sit back and admire your work.

Sour Cream Container Tutorial

When you need a bunch of small gifts in a hurry, sour cream containers fit the bill. They are easy to make, can be filled with a variety of items and look really good piled high in a basket. My ingredients for this container are as follows:

One 3.75 x 4.5 inch sheet of designer paper

Scor-Tape

Scallop Punches

Stapler

Crimper

M&M Peanut Butter Candies

Stamping Scrapping Designs Frou Frou Stamps

Cut a sheet of paper 3.75 inches by 4.5 inches.

Use Scor-Tape on the right edge, in the middle at the bottom and the left half of the top.

Peel off the liner on the long edge, roll the container and adhere.

Peel off the liner on the center bottom strip and adhere having the horizontal seam in the center.

Although not necessary, crimping at this point makes the container look like a sour cream container.

Fill the container with candy of your choice, pull the liner off of the remaining tape, turn the container so the horizontal seam is on the left side and press the ends together.

If you crimped the first edge, crimp this edge also.

Use your scallop punches to punch a 1.5" and a 1.25" scalloped circle out of scrap paper. Circle punches can also be used. Stamp the smallest scallop or circle with the sentiment of your choice. Adhere the two pieces together.

Staple the sentiment to the container. These are really simple to make for a party or holiday. I recently made 300 of them in less than 2 days. If you are making a large quantity, cut all your pieces first, stamp everything you want stamped second, and then assemble and fill while watching your favorite television show. You can design your own paper in a photo editing program, import your picture to Microsoft Power Point or Word and print out five of these per page. It would be easy to personalize them with your own art work or names. For banquets, you can add extra items inside for door prizes or you can add fortunes. These also look wonderful in acrylic, I've used transparency film to make them. I hope you'll give these a try, but I warn you, they are addicting.

Goosebumps!

This product is just like having clear embossing powder in a spray bottle! Goosebumps™ allows you to add texture to any surface. Paper, chipboard, acrylic etc. , just about anything you have in your craft room you can give goosebumps.

Today I have a short tutorial on how to use Goosebumps™.

First spray white card stock with Goosebumps™ and let dry, If you're in a hurry just use a heat tool to speed up the drying process.

Then add dye ink with an Ink Blending Tool.

I used Momento Dandelion ink and the Ink Blending Tool to apply color all over the paper Where ever the Goosebumps™ dried, the Dandelion ink was resisted and the white paper came through.

You can create texture or a resist effect when Goosebumps™ is applied to any non porous surface. The possibilities are endless with this product. I can't wait to see what you create using Goosebumps™!

Easy Spellbinder Rose...

Hi Everyone!!

Its my turn to post a new tut for you and this is really my first tut so hopefully I don't mix you up...too much! LOL

I decided to make a Rose for my card and wanted to use my Gliter Felt which I LOVE.

Ok here are the supplies I used....

My Grand Caliber

Red Glitter Felt - cuts like butter with spellbinders! Look at it glitter!

Spellbinders Shapeabilities Floral Doily Accents - 12 inch border

NEW Stamping Scrapping Twine

Fabri Tac Glue - I use this for McGill flowers too!

ok onto the tut!

First I cut out the glitter felt with the 12 inch spellbinder border using my grand caliber

Now this is what you have from the 12 inch border. Start to roll up the border. The top is the flower top with the 3 scallops.

Now add a drop of Fabri Tac glue on the inside of the last part to roll over

This is what you have so far

Take a small piece of twine and wrap it around the bottom of the flower and tug it tight and tie it off. Trim off excess twine. I do this to get the shape I want for the rose.

Now you can trim off some of the bottom of the rose now if you want. (I left most of mine so I could use it in my spellbinder layers of felt as I will show you below.)

You can also cut your 12 inch border in half down the long way then the bottom will also have a flat bottom to attach to your card.

Now your rose is done!! This is what I did to finish my card...

I folded my shape in half then cut a snp in the center. I then folded it over the other way and made another snip so they make a hole like above.

Now I slide my rose bottom into the hole I made.

So it looks like this.

I did this for the top 3 layers of glitter felt spellbinder shape I used. On the 4th I just glued it onto the red 3rd layer.

I did 3 layers below using the Glitter Felt and spellbinders Floral Accents Motifs (white and the black and white felt), Fleur de Lis Doily Motifs (black), and standard circles (red)

Ok so easy right? What do you think..will you be making some of these flowers?

Easy Bows!!

Start by having a 9" piece of ribbon, a button, and a needle and thread.

Fold the ribbon over like a bow. Knot your thread and baste it through the center of the ribbon.

Pull the thread so it gives a nice gather in the center.

Wrap the thread around a couple of times and bring the needle up through the center.

Attach the button and knot it in the back.

Trim the ends of the ribbon and your bow is ready!! I usually put a glue dot on the back and attach it to the card. Hope you have fun making bows!!!

I want to show you how to make these adorable tulips using the following Items:

Spellbinders Grand Calibur and Labels 20

Scor-Pal

McGill Tulip Flower Punches NEW FLOWER SET

Basic Grey Sweet Threads paper

Flower Soft Spring, Glue and Wires

Martha Stewart Fringe Scissors

My Finished Spellbinders Labels 20 pots. Paper is BasicGrey Sweet Threads

McGill Tulip Flowers in my Spellbinders Labels 20 pots

Stems are made from Flower Soft Spring

All items used to complete my Tulips and Pots listed above

Love the GRAND CALIBUR I am able to cut all these dies at once!
For each Flower Pot you need to cut TWO largest of the Labels 20 dies and TWO of the next smallest.

After I cut and embossed in my Grand Calibur

Take Scor-Pal and score Labels 20 (Largest die) at the bottom 1" in on 1 side only on 2 pieces

then Score at both ends 7/8" from outside edge of paper

Clip as shown

Then score at scallops in center of die with Scor-Pal and clip JUST the bottom as shown

You will need to do two for every Pot

Place adhesive on center tab and fold the two outer tabs in until they meet

These are your two halves once you have applied adhesive

Place adhesive on outside scored scalloped edges one will go inside one will go outside

This is what your bottom looks like when put together

You can cut a circle in Matching paper to cover the bottom if you wish

Take the Next to largest Labels 20 die cut shapes and cut off the bottom edge as shown

Apply to outside of pot overlapping paper at sides

On Scor-Mat take FlowerSoft Spring, Glue and wires

Dip wires in glue and into flower soft stand in stryofoam until dry

Here are my sticks drying. I love the Scor-Pal mat it is non stick and easy to clean


Punch 12 McGill Pear shapes and 1 snowflake shape. Using Beacons glue start building your Tulip.


Cut One Starburst for each Tulip and color ends with Copic matching color. Place in center of Tulip		.

To assemble the Tulips dip flower soft stem in Beacons glue attach to your Tulip.
Cut 2 McGill Star Lilly's for leaves for each stem glue on with Beacons glue
Place stryofoam in bottom of pot. Place tulips in styrofoam and add in paper raffia to finish your Pot.

Using Fringe Scissors to cut matching paper and crumple for placement on top of styrofoam.
They are absolutely adorable in real life!

Picture frame invitation

Hello everybody!! Spring is just around the corner…and if you are a bit like me..you are dying to get your seedlings and your garden party started!!! Today I bring you a little tutorial how to create an invitation using Stamping Scrapping & anaRydesigns die cuts made by Spellbinders, Gilli Stamp, Grand Calibur,
& the Scor Pal
For this project you will need (or equivalent of)

Anglaise die cut
Frou Frou tags die cut
Gilli Florist stamp
Stamping Scrapping Design stamps Frou Frou
Stamping Scrapping Design stamps Lacey circlers
K&Comapany paper (pattern)
Basic Grey Paper (green)
Copic marker and Copic multiliners
Classic circle large die cuts from Spellbinders
Grand caliber die cut machine
Score Pal
Memento Inks (Tuxedo Black and Pear Tart)
Stikles
Glue
Twine
Tulle
Flower seeds
Picture of Flowers

Select an area of your photo using the classic circle die (second circle counted from the biggest die). Set aside.
Cut 2 pieces of cardstock using Anglaise die and your Grand Calibur. These pieces will serve as base for your invitation. Cut 1 piece of pattern paper with Anglaise die cut. To Create a open frame set the circle die cut (third circle size) at the center of the anglaise patterned paper cut.
Cut the frame opening at the anglaise cut (patterned paper) with the Circle die cut. Set all the parts aside.

Using Frou frou die cut, cut a piece using green paper. Cut a white circle from cardstock using circle die (sixth die). Stamp a frame using Frou Frou stamps onto the white cardstock circle. The idea is to create a little pendant/sentiment. Set pieces aside.

Stamp one of the pieces of white anglaise cut with stamp from Lacey circle Stamp set. This will create a little frame for your party info.

Make a little sandwich by gluing the following layers:
Top : Anglaise frame (opened) patterned piece
Middle: Circular cut of your flower picture.
Bottom: Anglaise white cut
Add a little stickles around the edges and throughout the piece to taste.Set this piece aside
Write your party information inside the framed stamped on the second anglaise piece. Set aside.
Chop one of the sides of the green fou frou cut to create a pendant look. Write your sentiment on the white framed circle. Glue the circle piece to the frou frou cut. Add Stickles to embellish. Set aside.

Stamp and color your Gilli image

Cut around the colored Gilli image. Set aside.
Get together the front part of the card (anglaise piece picture frame) and the back (anglaise piece with your party info). Using a twine tie both pieces together on the left side. Make a little bow.
Make a little pouch with the tulle and fill with flower seeds and attach to the pendant/sentiment. Thread a piece of twine thru the pendant and tie to the card.
Add your Gilli image to the right side of your card.
Voila! Now you have a super cute invitation with a little memento for your party guest!

SSCC “Pink” Project AND a Tutorial

Happy Monday!!!

Our current challenge at Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central is “Pink”. Yep! We want to see your PINK projects.

For today’s project, I chose to do a card using the sketch from Friday Sketchers. It’s a little busy to me….and I didn’t even add the ribbon. ;o)

Here is the sketch.

And this is the card I made with it. I think it looks like I slapped a bunch of stuff on there. Maybe I did - LOL. I have had my papers picked out, foil embossed & cut to size, stamped image colored and sentiment stamped, cut & embossed for about a week now. But, I just put the card together at about 7 pm on 2/20…..knowing it’s due on 2/21. *sigh* I need to learn to plan ahead better. LOL

For this project, I used:

Creating Shaped Cards

Today I'm going to show you how to create a gatefold circle card using a few basic Spellbinders™ die templates along with the Beaded Circle stamp set from StampingScrapping.

I started by measuring the diameter of the largest circle from the Standard Circles set.

You can see it measures 3-1/2" inches across. Now double that and subtract 1/4" which equals 6-3/4". Now divide that in half to find the center of the card which is where the opening will be. That will be 1-5/8".

The next step will be to score the card.

I'm using the Martha Stewart scoring board for this project. My paper measures 4" x 6-3/4". I place the edge of the card a the arrow which is 1'16" from the edge and scored at 1-5/8". Then I turned the cardstock around and scored the other side.

You can also use the Scor-Pal scoring board to create this card (mine was not with me when I shot the photos).

I use removable tape to keep the paper in place.

Next, die cut the scored card by placing the scored edges just inside the cut lines of the die template.

Adhere to Lacey Circles largest die template cut from black card stock.

Now to create the front panel of the card. I reverse stamped the Beaded Circles stamp onto white card stock with LuLu Lavender. Start by adhering the image side of the stamp the your block. I inked the back of the stamp, the smooth side.

I then place the stamp on the block with the image side down as usual. Inked it with Grape Jelly and stamped over the reverse image or also known as a shadow image. Then die cut it with the largest die template from the Standard Circles Small.

Adhere the circle to the front of the card with tape runner.

I finished off the card with a smaller Lacey Circle cut from black card stock. Stamped an image from the Anglaise Lace stamp set and die cut with a smaller circle. Stamped the sentiment and embellished with with Diamond Dots.

Our CHA Adventure

A few of the Design Team members were fortunate enough to travel with Cindy and Kevin to CHA in California this year. Sheri, Billie, Janine and I had a great time working in the Stamping Scrapping Designs booth, doing make and takes in the Notions and Spellbinders booths, and just walking around and soaking in all the new merchandise.

Nestabilities and Embossing Tutorial

Good morning friends!

Ever wonder how to use your Spellbinders Nestabilities and your Cuttlebug, Sizzix and other embossing folders at the same time to get that double embossed look? Well, I’m going to show you.

First step is to pick out your die’s, paper and embossing folders. This example uses the Grand Calibur but I also have done this with the Big Shot.

Using your C-Cutting Plate put your paper down and then the die on top of that with the cutting edges down. If you want to make sure this doesn’t move you can add a couple of pieces of tape the the edge of the Spellbinder die and the paper. Make sure that the tape sticks to the paper on the area that will not be used.

Next, place your A-Base Plate on top as shown below. Run this through the Grand Calibur to cut the paper.

Life the A-Base Plate off and you will have a cut shape as shown below. Do not remove this from the Spellbinders Nestabilitie.

Now, the picture below shows an open embossing folder. Since it is a clear folder I just laid it on top of the die to show you. When using embossing folders they need to be open and laid flat.

It is up to you whether you want a raised embossing or a reversed embossing. If you look at the very first picture above you will see I chose to do a raised embossing. The Thank You stands up in the color portion of my paper and is not sunken. You determine this by which side of the embossing folder you use.

Here is the order for placement.

A-Base Plate, Embossing Folder, Die (with paper still in it) flat side on top of embossing folder, tan cutting/rubber mat, B-Embossing Plate.

Before you move on to running it through the Grand Calibur you need to know that this is a very tight fit. Using these pieces will make the rubber mat stretch when it is run through the Grand Calibur. You can experiment with using different plates and foam pieces on top of the rubber cutting mat to give it the desired impression. Shown below is using the pieces noted above and is a very deep embossing.

TUTORIAL - Draw & Cut With Cricut

HELLO friends!!!

I recently made this Cinderella CD Cover using the Happily Ever After Cricut cartridge, Design Studio and a Quickutz Silhouette pen. I know there are a lot of places out there selling the special housing for gel pens and such, but this is a MUCH cheaper alternative!!! ;o)

So, anyway…….I’ve done a quick tutorial showing how to use the Cricut, Cricut Design Studio and QuicKutz Silhouette pens to draw and then cut an image.

Making an Easel Card with Grand Nestabilities

Easel cards are very popular and you see them everywhere. Using the Grand Nestabilities, you can make a really good size easel card. For this card I used the Labels 1 Grand Nestabilitie. I cut a piece of cardstock to 6 x 12 and folded it in half, then I laid it on the mat of my Grand Calibur. I made sure that part of the die was above the fold of the card so it would stay in one piece after I cut it. I held my paper down with a couple pieces of eclipse tape so that it would stay put and not move around. This tape is made for masking and it will not damage your paper when you remove it. I ran the paper through the Grand Calibur. It cut 2 layers of thick Bazzil cardstock with no problem. Next I put the top part of the card on my scor pal and scored it so that it would fold in half.

It was easy to do with this die since the point is right in the middle. The next step is to fold the top half of the card in half and put some adhesive on it. Then you need to cut another labels 1 die out of the same cardstock. Line the piece up with the top of the folded part and stick them together. Now your easel card is complete! It’s time to decorate it. I used the 2nd smallest die for the card base, so I used the smallest one for my decorative paper. Then I colored an adorable Boho Gilli stamp and cut it out with a labels 8 nestie.

Here is a picture of the easel card opened up. You need something to stop it and hold the top up when it’s open. I cut a fancy spellbinders tag and popped it up with some pop dots. I stamped a couple of heart swirls and a sentiment from Stamping Scrapping Designs on the tag. I filled the centers of the flowers with some I-rock gems. I also used I-rock gems on Gilli’s earrings. I finished the card off with a nice big flower and a brad I made with the I-top brad maker. Here is a picture of the card when it is flat- perfect for being mailed.

I hope I have inspired you to use your Grand Calibur and nestabilities to make your own easel card.

Double Emboss with Spellbinders

Hello there! This is Billie with a short tutorial on double-embossing with Spellbinders dies. This has probably been done 100 million times, but I liked the way this die combo turned out when it was double embossed. :o)

As you can see, I just used a scrap piece of paper for this die cut. No reason to let all those scraps go to waste, is there???

The first step is to line your dies up however you want them. In this case, I wanted the Standard Circles Large centered within the Classic Scalloped Circles Large.

Once I got them lined up, I created my cutting sandwich and ran it through my Grand Caliber.

***IMPORTANT – Do not attempt to cut anything when your dies are touching! This could ruin your dies…and I don’t think any of us want that!!!

Once I have made my cut, I removed the excess paper, did my “sandwich” for embossing and ran it through the Grand Caliber again.

This is the way the die cut looks once it’s removed from your dies.

And, even though it’s hard to tell in this photo, this is the card I made with this “double embossed” die cut!

I used my airbrush to give it some color, then sprayed Glimmer Mist over my entire card, so I think it lost some of it’s embossing. I’ll remember that for next time!

Lacey Squares-making your own background paper

Hello and Happy New Year! My name is Janine Blackwelder and this is my first post as a new design team member for the Stamping Scrapping Design Team.

I created a card using the new Lacey Squares and Beaded Ovals stamp sets, Spellbinders die templates and a border punch.

I stamped the two design elements from the Lacey Squares on to the base of my card by positioning them on one stamp block then repeatedly stamping across and above until covered the card front. Below you will see photos of work in progress as I design. I work it out on paper before I dive into creating. This way I see what will work and what won't.

Next, stamp with ink to see placement of images.

Re-ink and repeat

Re-ink and repeat. Do you see the pattern growing and coming to life?

I completed the card by stamping one of the ovals from the Beaded Ovals set and die cut it with S4-110 Classic Ovals LG die template #3 (with #1 being the smallest) then finished with the sentiment from the Lacey Circles. I inked the edges of my card then embellished it with a border punch and ribbon.

A Lacey Circle Card and Tutorial

This is a card I made with the new Stamping Scrapping Designs Lacey Circles Set. These stamps are made to work with the Spellbinders circle and lacey circle dies. So here is the card I made with this set. I want to walk you through how simple it is to get them to work so perfectly together.

On this card I did the steps shown below, and then matted my circle onto a lacey circle die. I went over the design and the text with a copic spica pen to add some shine and then finished it off with some Irock bling. Now here are the steps to get you started using these fabulous stamps on your projects!!!

The first step is to stamp one of the borders on your paper. Then you lay the die over it to get the placement you want. You can use the hope method and hope it doesn't move around while cutting or, you can use some removable tape like eclipse tape to hold it in the right position. I think the eclipse tape is the better way to go personally.

After I had it positioned correctly, I ran it though my Cuttlebug with the A plate, B plate paper and the die over the design with the cutting side down then the C plate on top. After you run it though the Cuttlebug, it will come back out and the paper will be kind of stuck in the die. Turn it over and place it face down on your Cuttlebug A plate.

Then you make an embossing sandwich. You place the die with the paper face down on the A plate, the embossing mat, one B plate, something to use as a shim ( I use some old spellbinders packaging) and the other B plate. Roll it through the Cuttlebug. It may be a little tight because of your shim, but it's ok as long as you are not forcing it too hard. You don't want to break
that little guy.

When the die and the paper come out, it will look like this.

The design fits perfectly just inside the embossed area of the die.

Now, what I like to do is sand the circle so the embossing shows up even better, you could also ink around it or use some chalk to make the embossing really pop.

Here is a picture of my sanded version. It calls a little more attention to the fact that the die is embossed.
The last thing to do was stamp a sentiment in the middle of the design. This was so easy to do because the stamps are clear and you can get perfect placement with them.
